Abbreviated screening for asymptomatic rheumatic heart disease (RHD) has been shown to increase the identification of high-risk children and enable them to access life-saving penicillin treatment. RHD screening using focussed ultrasound is different to clinical echocardiography and has been refined to an effective single view protocol. In this workshop, we will teach you the basics of RHD screening.

Endometriosis is one of the most common and challenging gynaecological disorders, affecting 10-15% of women in the reproductive age group. Common symptoms include pelvic pain, pain with periods, pain with sex, bowel pain during periods, and infertility. Assessing the pelvis for deep infiltrating endometriosis in patients presenting with those symptoms is an important part of identifying their cause. An assessment for deep infiltrating endometriosis during every gynaecological ultrasound can lead to earlier diagnosis of endometriosis, reduction of surgical risk, the possibility to use medical therapy prior to surgery, and improvement of pre-operative planning if surgery is required
